Our Roots

Professional Culinary Services story began three generations ago in 1903. Louis Konopelski, a poor Polish immigrant, arrived in America with nothing but the clothes on his back and a recipe for Polish Kielbasa in his pocket.

As the years when on, Louis married, had 12 children and started a Polish grocery store in Reading, Pennsylvania that specialized in Polish Kielbasa.

In 1981, Patrick, the seventh child and first-born son to Francis, started a catering business. Considered at first to be a hobby, Patrick continued his catering business while attending Kutztown University. After graduation, the “hobby” had turned into a full-grown business. Over the years, Konopelski Katering had grown to be one of the largest, versatile, and most respected catering services in the area.

The company expanded into the foodservice industry with the formation of Professional Culinary Services. This division can handle the in-house foodservice needs of area companies including a complete Vending Program. If your company requires vending machines, we can provide machines that handle Coffee, Snack Foods, Cold Beverage, and Fresh Food that is made by our own kitchen.

Years after its inception, Profession Culinary Services still continues the tradition which began three generations ago.
